Fair Use of TrueNAS Trademarks

“Fair use” refers to the use of TrueNAS trademarks by third parties without explicit permission or license, and is limited to text-only references to product or service names, not logos or other visual brand elements.

Fair use must adhere to the following principles:

• Be factually accurate and non-disparaging.
• Avoid misleading representations about the relationship between your company and TrueNAS.
• Clearly distinguish your own brand from TrueNAS products.

Common Examples of Fair Use:

• Referring to a TrueNAS product by name:
  “The TrueNAS Mini™ is a compact storage device.”
• Indicating compatibility with a TrueNAS product:
  “XYZ software is compatible with TrueNAS® systems.”

In all such cases, your product name should be the primary focus, with any TrueNAS reference made secondary and contextual.  For example, stating that a product was “developed with,” “designed for,” or “compatible with” TrueNAS.
