I set up freenas and then dismantled the box.. I cannot reformat the drives.. they are not recognized in bios, which is strange.. Is there any way to recover the drives.. there is no information on them.

Thanks for the help

Hardware and software used, please...

Most likely, they just need to be completely wiped (try Boot & Nuke). I wouldn't put too much faith in the BIOS information, but if it is accurate, you might have dead drive son your hands (mechanical shock, power surge,...?)

drives were placed in several different machines.. nothing would recognize them.. I considered shock or power surge, but they were running fine before I dismantled the machine.. I took them out and set them on the shelf.. it has only been about 3 days that they have been removed. used gpparted, tried under win7, nothing can see the drive.. I will locate B&N and give it a try...

drives were hooked up to Dell 7010 and a new build with an amd a4-4000 & msi motherboard (which is running fine) .

I just checked the other 2 drives.. and they are working fine... put them in an external case (both IDE) and they were picked up and I was able to reformat with no problems... I must assume that something killed the other 2 (which were SATA) for whatever reason.. they spin up but will not be recognized...try again later
