Please excuse my question.
I have a running XigmaNAS system with also some iSCSI-Targets. I am currently not using TrueNAS, but the support forum of XigmaNAS is not very active; so, this is the reason for coming here and ask

My idea is, to present an SCSI LTO-tape which is attached locally to the NAS machine as an iSCSI target to other machines, especially a VM which is running Backup Exec or a Proxmox server.

I have read many postings and therefore I have the impression that this is in principle possible.

in the configuration page, I can choose "tape" as a target type, but then it asks me to first create an extent fro this.

trying this, I can choose "device" besides of "file" and others. But using "device" does not let me choose anything. I was expecting to see the name of my tape drive or at least "/dev/st0" or something simliar
I can issue some basic "mt" commands to the tape.
the tape seems to be active as st0 or st0.ctl

Can someone giv me some help? Thank you

EDIT: I know , that there is a tape-redirector software is available, but this is AFAIK Windows based
