SSH or Local Commands

I recently posted a thread asking about a remote API, please do not confuse this topic with my other one, as it is not a repeat topic.

I heard from the community that some people manage FreeNAS servers using SSH or local command line. I was wondering if there is a good place to find commands for this. I am interested mainly in the iSCSI functionality.
Where can I find references for commands to provision storage using SSH or local shell commands?

FreeNAS come to manipulating the sqlite3 database (/data/freenas-v1.db) and generating configuration files (/etc/rc.d/ix-*) plus restarting/reloading services.

It is not a trivial task.
