I just installed the latest FreeNAS onto a USB drive, and I can access the Web GUI with no problem. The problem is, no drives are recognized. My Hardware:

SuperMicro X7DBN Motherboard with 16GB RAM
2 IBM ServeRaid M1015, flashed to IT Mode
12-drive hot-swap chassis
SATA Drives

From what I've been able to find, the drives should just appear. Maybe I'm wrong. Is there something special I need to do to get drives recognized?

Nope. They should "just appear". What FreeNAS version are you using? Do you know what phase firmware version you flashed?I think you need 14 or higher. 14 is ideal since the FreeNAS driver and firmware should match ideally and FreeNAS uses 14. I'm using phase 16 firmware though without any side effects I'm aware of.

Thanks for the help and responses. Turned out it was my own dumb fault. Apparently I didn't push the cables far enough into the controller card. Everything seems OK now :)
