So I am new to FreeNas and I am trying to use a old pc as a NAS. It does pass the small nas minimum. When I plugged in ethernet to my mb(motherboard) and tried to install it kept giving me a 0.0.0.0 ip (my motherboard is the: ASRock N68-GS4 FX R2.0 ). So I think it is the ethernet port that is not supported so is there any (cheap) recommended NIC to buy. I am only looking for speeds of 1000 kbps.

BTW the ethernet did just work fine in windows.

Typically yes, for any 10/100/1000 Intel NIC anyway based on reports here in the forum.
