Network card with WOL support + power saving

Hi Guys,

I have a HP Proliant Microserver with the Embedded NC107i PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Server Adapter.

I am very happy with my ZFS setup. However I would like to make the system a little more green.

I am assuming that at some point freeNAS will enable a standby feature? So when I start a laptop/pc on the network it will send the packet and wake the NAS up.

I can't seem to enable the Wake On LAN feature. I have tried a number of times after shutting show the FreeNAS server. However it seems that the NIC is shutdown so doesn't work.

Are there any supported NICs which I could use for WOL?

I'm still looking for a WOL card, someone told me the Intel CT/1000 but I'm not sure about compatibility...the HARD trouble is the NIC driver that FreeBSD developed long time ago. So, we've to look @freebsd mailing list!
