Upgrade path and is it necessary?

Hi all

I'm currently running TrueNAS-12.0-U7 after completing my first Truenas Core build earlier this year. I'm currently mainly using it for the SMB shares to a few PCs and also have Plex running in a jail using media files on the Truenas but I don't have any remote access to the NAS set up.

I can see that 12.0-U8.1 the next upgrade for v12 but also that I could switch trains to v13.

My question is if I was to update to v13, is it necessary to move to the later version of 12 or is it ok just to switch and go to whichever is the latest stable v13 build?
Also, given that at the moment I have a very simple use case for the server is there enough reason to risk the upgrade if there's not really any issues that I have?

Generally, following the full path gives you a more stable upgrade.
So go with the U8.1 and then go v13.
