Services/UPS should be called "Uninterruptible power supply" in the configuration menu

It's very bad design to use abbreviations everywhere without mentioned the full name at least once somewhere.

Thus UPS should be mentioned as "Uninterruptible power supply" at least once in the configuration menu. This would make a lot much more clearer.
Especially because in other languages it's not always called "UPS". And if you are not used to say "UPS" you need to search what this abbreviation means.

There is also one important rule that you should always keep in mind:
Before you use abbreviations, you need to mention the full name at least once in the beginning.

Every Linux/FreeBSD command, process, or device name is an acronym.

You seem to be comfortable with acronyms in your signature

MAINBOARD: Supermicro X11SSH-F
CPU: Intel Pentium G4500 @3,5 GHz
RAM: 32 GB DDR4-2400 ECC RAM @ 2133 MHz
SSD as system drive: 1 x Intel 256 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe
HD NAS storage drives: 6 x 4 TB WD Red @5400 rpm

Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Intelligent Electronics (INTEL)
Giga Hertz (GHz)
Random Access Memory (RAM)
Giga Byte (GB)
Double Data Rate (DDR)
Error Correction Code (ECC)
Mega Hertz (MHz)
Solid State Drive (SSD)
Non-Volatile Memory (NVM)
Peripheral Computer Interconnect (PCI)
Hard Disk (HD)
Network Attached Storage (NAS)
Tera Byte (TB)
Western Digital (WD)
Revolution Per Minute (RPM)

The difference is the language.

CPU, RAM, ECC, DDR, PCI everything is used here too, except UPS. We call it USV.

I always thought "UPS" was a delivery service ......:eek:

....... I guess "When in Rome ...... do as the Romans ....... "

I would imagine somewhere .... someplace .... all the other acronyms may not directly translate either .... and they manage.

Icons make everything better.

Not sure why they're not more widely imlpemented in the TrueNAS GUI, since the left side menu uses them already.

Ahem...

I completely agree.

Sure, but it's no excuse to keep it bad.

My statement stays correct: "Before you use abbreviations, you need to mention the full name at least once in the beginning somewhere."

And like winnielinnie said, add icons.

If you want to contribute, submit a bug report/suggestion and/or become a developer.

Personally, I would rather developers work on bug fixes and patching vulnerabilities, vs. working on something cosmetic.

It's not a cosmetic change, it's a usability change. And such things are not done by developers, they are done by designers. Which means, you save no time for code stuff.
