This worked for me as root;
service ix-plugins forcerestart

Had the 502 error problem today after deleting plexserver and installing the latest version plexmediaserver-0.9.11.1.678-amd64.pbi.
The upgrade would not work so a fresh install was needed.
All the other five plugins then broke while plex was fine.
The command line fix suggested by John Hixson worked for FreeNAS-9.2.1.7-RELEASE-x64 (fdbe9a0).
