Hello all,

SUPERMICRO MBD-X11SSH-LN4F
That's not a very good choice (unless pricing is massively favorable). Compared to an X11SSM-F, the extra NICs are as good as useless and the M.2 slot is crippled with only two PCIe lanes - the four lanes used for NICs and M.2 on the X11SSH models are routed to a PCIe card slot on the X11SSM-F.

PSU: CORSAIR CX750M V2
You definitely want something better, like a Seasonic Focus Plus/G-Series. If you're sticking to 8 disks, a 450W unit should be plenty, 550W for 11 disks, 650W for 14 disks.

OS DRIVE: 2 x SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 16GB USB 2.0 Low-Profile Flash Drive- SDCZ33-016G-B35 2 x $6.98 = $13.98 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FYNSZA/
You're better off with a cheap SSD as the boot device. Cheapest you can find from SanDisk, Crucial/Micron, Samsung, Intel or Toshiba.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will switch the MB and PSU.

Regarding the boot device, I'm limited to 8 SATA ports so how do I put 8 HDDs with 1 SSD?

Make sure to read some reviews on this case. I have seen many people report air flow problems and their drives running hot. Like their hard drives running 50c degrees. Anyway just something to think about.

I liked the fact the hotswap area can be locked up for this case. I will look at some reviews for it. Does anyone have alternative suggestions based on their past experience?

Anyone have suggestions for an 8-drive chassis? It's the last piece of the puzzle.

That would be an overkill. I need a tower that I can put under my desk.
