I am building my second NAS and decided to go a little bigger. This is going to be used for PLEX transcoding 4 1080p streams to remote systems.

Do you think I need to upgrade the fans with the additional 2 HDDs in the 5.25?

Any concerns with no CPU cooler?

Is the RAM overkill? I plan to upgrade to 64GB later..

Anything I am missing?

Can't ever have enough cooling.

The CPU will come with a heat sink/fan.

ZFS likes RAM. The more you have, the better it will perform.

Anything I am missing?

My experience with this case leans towards purchasing at least two additional fans
with that many drives. Case comes with two fans installed, one in the front and one in the upper rear panel.

I was more referencing the fact that SATA II SSDs are much cheaper.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I will look into upgrading / installing more fans.

Not a good choice. Stick to the reputable brands: SanDisk, Toshiba, Samsung, Intel, Crucial, Micron.

Some nice ventures here. Guess must been down that cycle u.k English queue too long again too recall yet, why yes maybe EMC wasntvOrwell used but logo rings cycle why no Bell recalls of long time before www & windows those Unix Sun ZFS pools that have been run on just about anything you can imagine ,and guess diversity is as usual isn't a thing know here as its all new developments Dell HP servers etc how you sing the tune of the tangent of that apprehension which you ought recall, them,ZFS was\is toppest top FS ever been, but you got those new serves in synthetic windows which ain't no FS run tjing an VMWare atop thatt ,why AI may imprint intelligent machine footprint but can't you stop anxiety from tjose noob type tracks or are you not human but a nag !?
