I still remember when in 1994 I was told that one of Europe's largest banks had an overall primary storage capacity of around 4-5 TB in their data center. But that was also a time when could view transactions on a current account back for only 6 weeks (going further required to view microfiches). And my personal hard disk was either 130 or 170 MB ;-)

So this posting was intended to make some of us drool? Naw, I'd hate to feed that thing electricity and cool it as well. unless all the drives were PCIe SSD and then I might be interested, but I'd have to win some big money to afford something like that, and I'd have no idea what to do with that kind of space. I guess I could rent storage to my family members and they could remotely store their data. My first hard drive was two used 5MB MFM WD ST506 (I think) 5.25" drive which after several months I replaced the MFM controller with an RLL controller doubling my capacity. I actually performed a head alignment on both drives (I was trained in how to do this kind of work in the military). Being stepper motor driven it was easy but with today's tracking systems, well they are completely different and head alignment is for the professionals in the data recovery field, not for me anymore.
