Hey folks,

<spoiler-alert>
You remember the ending of the movie "The Wizard of Oz", where Dorothy woke up and it was all just a dream?
</spoiler-alert>

Well, that's exactly the case with FreeNAS 9.2.1.4.1. It apparently never happened, we all just dreamed that it did. Haha! You all didn't really think we'd release something with so many numbers, or with more bugs than 9.2.1.3, right? Right. Just a bad dream.

So anyway, now that we're all awake again, we'd just like to point out that the release fairies appear to have done a 9.2.1.5-RELEASE during the night, which is now available on http://download.freenas.org. It fixes even more bugs in the 9.2.1.x series (including those we all dreamed were in 9.2.1.4.1) and is a more fitting end to the 9.2.1.x series, especially given that 9.2.2 isn't going to be out for awhile!

Bugs fixed in 9.2.1.5: https://bugs.freenas.org/projects/freenas/issues?query_id=75

Sweet dreams!

Thanks for all the hard work!

Hate to be a downer, but it's a shame we've got 4131 still lingering out there. Doug white mentioned lacking libt* files with debug symbols... Is a build of the libt* with debug symbols what's needed to make more more sense of the crash dumps coming in from folks experiencing this?

Thankfully things seem to be running pretty smoothly for me as-is on 9.2.1.4. The unfortunate flip side of that is I can't be of much help on providing dumps for bug 4131.

Could you please clarify whether 9.2.1.5 includes any changes related to bugs 4803, 4836 and 4840 ?

Thank you!

Hi folks,

Regarding the bugs that have been mentioned in this thread - here's a quick status (as near as I can glean from the bug reports and talking to folks, anyway), and again - please see https://bugs.freenas.org/projects/freenas/issues?query_id=75 for a definitive list of what's fixed in 9.2.1.5

https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/4803 - Solarflare driver trips an assert. Fixed. See query.
https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/4836 - Can't list snapshots in GUI. Fixed. See query.
https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/4840 - misspelling in info popup. Fixed. See query.
https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/4131 - SMB panic. This one has been a royal PITA for us. We can't reproduce it at all, though the latest tracebacks from "R K" look somewhat informative - I'll look at that section of the code today. Anyone else seeing it in 9.2.1.5, please attach a core file to the ticket (see discussion thread for how to do that).

Also, I'll just point out again for reference that everything in the 9.2.1.x series is represented by the 9.2.1-BRANCH in github's freenas project, so anyone wishing to diff the sources to see *precisely* what was changed, please use github's tools for this. They're very good at showing branch diffs, and since we have built (and tagged) all releases from this branch, that's absolutely the most definitive source of change information.

Thanks!

TYVM. AFP works, LDAP works. And, as an added bonus, you deleted the thread with all my whining. ;)

I've joined maybe 3 forums in the past 30 years, but JKH has impressed me enough that I needed to join here just to say thanks. After the responses posted by users the 9.2.1.4.1 thread, many would have taken offense. JKH, however, re-assessed his position and published 9.2.1.5. You have my respect and appreciation. Thanks to the entire iXsystems crew.

Well, he helped bring about FreeBSD, was head of Unix tech (CTO I think) at Apple, his bio is on the site some where.

He is an asset to this project for sure and is part of the reason why ppl should look more seriously at FreeNAS/IX Systems in serious biz envs.
