Hello everyone

As you know I'm a noob, but Thanks to this forum I was able to build a good freenas server and I'm very happy with it.
There is only one (for now) thing I don't know how to do: connect the ups.
I have a x10sl7 and an APC back-ups cs 650va that I've already from the older qnap.
I know it's not officially supported by freenas, so there's no chance to make it works?
No one has done it with alternative driver or configuration?
Thanks in advance

I guess I'm not sure by what you mean, it's not supported. It has a USB port for notification, correct?
And what have you done to connect it? Have you figured out the correct port and tried a few different drivers yet? Did you follow the FreeNAS manual for connecting it up?

Connecting up a UPS on FreeNAS is not difficult but it's not just as simple and pluging it in either. If you are having problems, give us some details, and also I don't see any mention of what version of FreeNAS you are running, something our forum rules ask you to post even if you don't feel it's relevant because it could be at some point, but hopefully not.

Hi Joe
I have freenas ver. 9.2.1.7
I've read this: http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/UPS
and this: http://www.networkupstools.org/stable-hcl.html
found the usb port disconnecting it e reading the msg on the console
then I've tried "apc ups back-ups usb usb (usbhid-ups)" in the ups configuration because it seems to me the "generic" one, all the others are for different models.
when booting i can read on the console: Sep 14 16:59:24 freenas1 kernel: ugen1.4: <American Power Conversion> at usbus1
but if I try "upcs ups" or "upsc -L" I have: "error: connection failure: connection refused"
It's seems that ups connection is not confgured
How can i verify (except tear off the power cable :) ) that ups works well?
thanks for your help

usbhid-ups is likely to work as driver option.

Not all PSU are happy with the stepped sine wave, but the corsair in my moms desktop have yet to complain too much.

If you can't get it to work Ill see if I can dig one up and connect it to an experimental machine.

They do work great as battery charger and have built in current limiting. It's slow though as they charge at 13.8V (IIRC)

Your English translation is not that good but if I understand you correctly, you have an UPS which works fine running FreeNAS 9.2.1.4 but does not run if you have FreeNAS 9.2.1.7 loaded on the same machine. Is that true? If that is true then you should submit a Bug Report as this type of problem should not have occurred.

Also, I would recommend that you try all the different APC drivers (usbhid-ups, genericups).

If that doesn't work, please provide a screen shot of the UPS configuration screen. You already said you are connected on USB Port ugen1.4, make sure that is still correct as it will change depending on the port you are plugged into.

Good Luck,
Joe.
