I have a need for an on-site consultant to deal with networking and sharing issues with two FreeNAS servers and several Windows boxes. The location is Berkeley, California. Which is the appropriate forum? Thanks.

Are you looking for a consultant on-site or a consultant who can talk someone through who will be on-site? If it's the latter, give a shout out to CyberJock. I'm sure he won't charge too much.

There's no forum for on-site. There's one or two people here that do consulting(me being one of them), but we do everything remotely. If you are looking for locale based consultation you should look around locally. :/

I do general consulting as well as ZFS, and I do travel as required, but given that you're in Berkeley the best answer would be to find someone at iXsystems etc.

We are very interested in some remote consulting. How can we get in touch?

I'm pretty certain cyberjock doesn't do consulting anymore (not as a freelancer, anyway).

Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone around here who does. Depending on what you need, iXsystems might be able to help.

Can you point me in the direction of someone that would?

Thanks
Gee, I am in southern KCMO, contrary to my signature's location of Middle Earth. (KCMO is a stones throw from Lees Summit, MO).
In my job, I am a professional Unix System Administrator.

What were you looking for?

Wow that is pretty close.

We built a custom FreeNAS box to replace our existing EMC system and may be running into write performance issues.

We're looking for someone to help troubleshoot and or make hardware recommendations.

How can we get in contact? We are really interested in what you can offer and what you may charge.

The following two images are separate tests that ran on the same iSCSI lun.

I generally make time for paying customers, it's what allows me to continue doing some of these other fun things for free. I've been lucky that way over the years.

I started a private conversation with @Sean Siegel, that includes my contact information.
