Using .htaccess on WebServer

Hello. I am having trouble with getting an Apache .htaccess/.htpasswd combination to work using FreeNAS. I do not want to use the user authentication provided by FreeNAS on the Webserver because I do not what all users to have access to certain web directories. For instance, I want a single directory to have one username/password. I do not have any issue with the .htacccess and .htpasswd files to my knowledge, and they are placed in the correct directories. However, when I actually go to the protected directory, it takes me straight there, no password required.

Please help me.
