I have a HP Microserver Gen8 and I am about to install FreeNAS 11.2 on it.

I know it's not customary, but I have an old square monitor attached to the server, and I am wondering if I can put some kind of output to the screen? Perhaps temperature, CPU and/or hard drive statuses? It doesn't have to be graphical. Graphical would be awesome though! An output of error messages even?

Suggestions welcome

Yes, of course--just plug it in and turn it on. You'll see the console menu (assuming you haven't disabled it in the advanced settings), and most stupid, pointless, and trivial error messages will be written to the console as well. There is no graphical environment, and no way to change the screen to show anything else.
