I am guessing in the update process it deleted the install and no matter what I select in GRUB I get this error. How do I repair the install?

Bought a twin pack of 16GB Flash Drives
Installed 9.10.1-U3 fresh with mirror across both drives
Bought UFS Explorer Standard Access for $25
Put bad FreeNAS boot USB on my Windows 10 PC
Used UFS Explorer to copy the 9.10.1-U3 boot environment folder to my desktop
Searched for freenas-v1.db and copied that to desktop
Opened FreeNAS web interface on the fresh install and uploaded the freenas-v1.db via System > General and rebooted
Updated FreeNAS via Web GIU to U4
... and all was well once again

*Used UFS Explorer because old install REFUSED to mount and I had been fighting with it for HOURS, yes I read all the threads on how to do it. Also, FreeNAS installer did not detect the previous install so I could not do an in-place update keeping my configuration.

Seriously UFS Explorer is well worth the $25 for future issues cross file systems. It beats the hell out of using a Virtual Machine or dealing with a crappy command line. Open program drag files over, done. No importing and mounting bullcrap.

Edit: Mods can you tag this as solved. I am not seeing the option.

This is another reason to ensure you have a copy of your configuration data so you can perform a painless recovery.

Plugging in the old boot device while FreeNAS is running is also a cheaper way of doing things. The Unix shell is not so bad, really.

Just don't have two different pools named freenas-boot plugged in during boot. Bad things will happen, like FreeBSD 10.3 booting and then loading the FreeNAS 9.3 components instead of the FreeNAS 9.10 components.
