Mellanox card will work for new TrueNAS Scale server?

I assume this would be supported out of the box with the mlx5en driver?

This is a PCIe Gen4 card so it should provide enough bandwidth from one PCIe slot to support the full 200 GB of theoretical bandwidth.

The problem with the Gen3 Dual port cards is most of them will not support enabling both ports and getting the full bandwidth.

Right now I have 100gb QFSP+ ports on my switch and will be using fiber to connect.

Is it better to buy two one port 100gb cards instead of one with dual-ports?

Is there a better PCIe Gen4 supported card I should look for?

For 2x100G, you should also look for the Intel Ethernet Controller E810-CAM2.
Intel NIC works on any operating systems.

E810-CQDA2 - these appear to be cheaper sourced would these work as well?

It is the same thing: E810-CAM2 is the Ethernet chip name that is installed on the NIC E810-CQDA2.
