Hello,

I´d like some advices to prepare a production TrueNAS storage running on a Dell 610 with PERC H310 controller with IT mode + 1 SSD 120GB ( boot-pool) + 6 x SSD 1TB(pool tank) https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/enable-it-mode-at-dell-perc-h310.101575/

My current storage runs at TrueNAS 12 running on Hyper-V and we store some kubernetes volumes there. We can see these volumes here: https://pastebin.com/EkpnarAL

What is the best record size may I choose to handle this kubernetes volumes?
Should I use 5 SSDs and use 1 as spare? Is it a good idea?

dmesg of TrueNAS at Dell R610: https://pastebin.com/zZXjcJ5A

Planning:
- Install 2 NVME and use one as spare to boot-pool;
- I will have other TrueNAS running on the same hardware and syncing data with the main node;

Any other hint ?

Thanks

If you weren't forcing me off-site to look at your included information (which you can easily attach here as is best-practice), maybe I would have looked into your questions.

For now I have not.

Generally, recordsize of 128k is default, I recommend leaving it like that unless you know your kubernetes apps deal only in much larger or much smaller files.

So none of that really clarifies anything about what the kubernetes apps are doing.

It seems that you have a widely ranging list of different needs from your volumes, so one answer isn't something you're going to get.

I'll restate that the default is 128k and if your apps use mostly files of significantly smaller size, go smaller, and the inverse.
