Hello FreeNAS comunity.

I had a recent error count go from 0 - 1 on da3 drive. I was hoping a few people could take a look at the below SMART information from the drive in question. Does this drive need to be replaced or should I be doing somthing else. Please let me know if you need anymore information.

As usual, thank you for your help and support from such a great community.
Andrew

Would you please do a full smartctl -x, instead of the -a, to get the extended information, and please enclose the result in "code" tags or use imgur.

You have the WD 4TB red. This is a very reliable drive. Out of curiosity: Why do you have an unusual number of load cycles? Did you, perhaps, set your drives to "spin down" or something? Recommend you do not do that with WD reds, as you will literally save no measurable amount of money.

First let me thank you for such a fast response.

To be honest I do not know why I have an unusual number of load cycles. How do I check to see if the drives are set to spin down and if they are how do I disable that.

Sorry for not using the "code" in my prior post. Please find the below Smartctl -x

Thanks for your help.

FYI when I go to view disks they are all set to always on under HDD Standby. Any other suggestions as to why I have so many load cycles?

Load cycle count is not your problem, failed SMART test and Raw Read errors are, also check your cooling, disk reached 60C at some point in the past.

I want to amplify what Johnnie said. Dude, your drives are REGULARLY reaching the high 50's Celsius, and occasionally have reached 60C.

That's WAY. TOO. HOT. for NAS drives. WAY TOO HOT.

You can RMA drives all day, but if you're running NAS drives in the 50's, they will not last.

Whatever case you have these in is not getting it done.

for NAS drives
For any spinning rust, really. Dangerously close to "Huh, my drive stopped being able to write, but now it's okay after cooling down a bit." territory.

Sorry team I did find the source of the heat issue. The two fans that cool the drive bank were off. Thank you for this and I will be keeping a close eye on it from here on out. Thanks again
