I have a c2750d4i that worked for about 2.5 years going out just before the 3 year warranty was up. I just received another back through rma and was wondering about the best way to get back up. Do I need to reinstall FreeNAS or can I just swap the boards out and expect it to work? I know the latest bios updates on the board prevent the burnout problem these are prone to. But when I first did this I had to load something so that the marvel controller would stabilize. I still have the files but was trying to recall what I needed to do in what order to get this board running. Anyone have any recommendation on either of those issues? Also if I do not reinstall FreeNAS can I expect the pool to be recognized or will I have to do some recovery. FreeNAS runs off a satadom and nothing has changed since the board went down. The only thing is Im thinking of moving to a case with better airflow while I do this. Looking through my old cases now thinking of what to drill hard drive bays into.

It's as simple as just swapping the board. You may need to reconfigure your networking when you boot, but that's pretty much it.

Worked out fine. Only thing is this board has a marvel controller for about half the sata slots that was buggy in the past. they gave me something to flash all raid functionality off of it and Im not sure if I need to do it again on the new board. They might have fixed it at some point and I cant remember how I flashed it anyways. Its not in the ipmi or uefi. I think I ran the script from windows but I dont see anything in the .bat files that would find my server on the network. Going to keep an eye on it and see if any problems pop up but jails are working storage is open all drives healthy.
