Hi

I have been facing issue creating new jails, it get stuck at "ETA 0.00" and seem to be stuck midway downloading the jail template. I have no problem adding plugins and jail with it. It just i have trouble creating standalone jails, I am using FreeNAS-11.0-U3 (c5dcf4416), normally it would give me a error if it fail creating the jail but it say stuck and after a while the process tarball is plugging CPU at 100% and reboot fixes this issue. Not sure if should create a bug report as i just updated to U3 and seem to have same issues, and changelog didn't mention much about jail fixes.

I have not upgraded to U3 just yet but have you rebooted your FreeNAS machine? Also, please provide some basic system specs.

How full is your pool and is your jail on the pool?

Are you seeing a lot of swap space being used? Is the disk activity high?

Have you tried to roll back to U2 (or your previous version) and try to add a jail?

If you can say with certainty that this appears to be a U3 issue, I'd file a bug report.

I had issues also back in U2, my pool is not even close to full.

My disk activity is normal, nothing extremely high. I have still have 100% swap unused.

I mean i can add plugins without any issues and use that jail that plugin created but i just want to create a jail to bare bone, do you know any of plugin which have a semi bare bone install?

I'm more than happy to help you if you would provide what I've asked for.

1) System Specs (part of our forum rules)
2) How full is your pool? (output of zfs list)

One additional question:
3) When was the last time (freenas version) that you did a clean installation? Some people have had issues with jails because upgrading through various FreeNAS versions did not work quite right and were forced to perform a clean installation/delete jails. Not saying you would have to, just looking at the possibility.

Here is a possible fix for you and what I'd recommend as the first step...
1) Stop all your jails.
2) Delete your jails. Since you said you cannot create any, you shouldn't have any. This is not plugins, just the jails.
3) Delete the directory within your jails directory called ".warden-template-standard".
4) Now try to create a jail.

What this will do is delete the old jail data and force a new download.

3) The reinstall/clean install is when i did clean install of freenas 10 and upgraded to 11 straight after before setting up my new array and restoring my existing one.

I don't really want to reinstall my jails as later this year i hoping to grab some 60GB SSD as my jail/temp drive, and I would reinstall all my jails than, as i have tones of stuff in jail which at the moment i don't really want to reconfigure all of it.

Fair enough. If you can't delete your jails (just the jails, not plugins) and delete the warden-standard-template then I think you will remain in this predicament until then. And you of course know that you can use any already established jail and install more software on it so you should be okay until you are aready to migrate to the new SSDs.

Good luck
