SOLVED - zfs set encryption=off not possible?
I do have a dataset which inherited the encryption. I did not disable encryption during the setup of this dataset. Is there a way to disable the encryption for this dataset without destroying it? zfs set encryption=off doesn't seem to be possible; the man page states "edit = No"

Encryption
Enryption - how is the key file protected against physical access of the TN host?
Where is the keyfile stored? On the boot pool? The boot pool itself is not encrypted, correct? If physical access is gained to host itself - how is a protection of the keyfile possbile? In my scenario a switch to passphrase is not feaseable from a comfort point of view (yes, encryption is...

Enycryption - key file with additional safety option - physical access prevention
Hello, as per https://www.truenas.com/docs/core/storage/pools/storageencryption/ 2 options are available: 1 key file 2 passphrase In my test setup I went with key file. So upon start of the host the encryption file is being used and the files are available for access, i.e. via network...

SOLVED - PC / system doesn't stay shut down, auto switch on
Hello, when I do shut down the TrueNAS Core host (either via TN gui or the button on the PC chassi) the TN Core will shut down. A couple of seconds later the host will start itself. This never happened in the past with this system. I have not changed anything in the host's UEFI settings...

Backup Win 10
Howto - What is a good Win10 client backup strategy, ideally without additional software required; quota on TN Core enable
Hello, the goal is: to have a fully restoreable copy of drive c: of each Win 10 client PC stored on TN Core. Ideally the featureset of Apple's Time Machine: incremental backup of the complete system, restoreable on a per file basis or complete re-install from backup. Is this achieveable with...

SOLVED - How to do an offline update of CORE and SCALE?
In the TN Web UI there is the option to upload a file. However when I try to use the .iso files they are not accepted for that update. I know there is a file for SCALE: https://www.truenas.com/docs/scale/devnotes/...

[How-To] Set up Time Machine for multiple machines with OSX Server-Style Quotas
Hope so! The target version seems to be repeatedly getting pushed out... Yes. Maybe you should second the feature request ;)

Dataset Quota vs Reserved - Reserved is to tell the pool to guarantee this much?
I am running an Apple Time Machine backup target on the TN Core host. The respective datasets for this are set up with a quota limitation. This is seen by the macOS backup clients. I have not yet tried if Apple TM is able to work as intented by deleting older backup versions once the storage is...

TN Core as backup target for Win 10 clients and Apple Time Machine - best practice?
1. I want to limit the useable disk space on a per client basis - so one dataset with a quota for each client. 2. Is TN Core stable / reliable to work as an Apple Time Machine target? What needs to be set up (SMB Share)? 3. Any experience with restoring the backups? (Win 10, macOS)?
