DisasterRecovery - simulation of TN failure

Hello,
I installed TrueNAS within ESXi as VM. The SATA controller/drives are passthrough to that VM. On top of the drives, I created an encrypted & pass-protected pool.

I was wondering if I could easily simulate the failure/crash of ESXi/ TrueNAS VM... according to the following scenario:
1) I will remove the boot medium of ESXi from the pc
2) I will plug and boot fresh install off TN natively (bare metal)
3) import the encrypted pool
4) restore TN configuration from TN configuration backup (is it possible to elegantly backup the whole TN configuration?)
https://www.truenas.com/docs/core/coretutorials/systemconfiguration/usingconfigurationbackups/
https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/backup-and-restore-truenas-configuration.90273/

Does that make sense?

I am not talking here about restoring broken pool/data... for such a case I will prepare another test crash/restore scenarios.

Thank you for your view/feedback.
