Is onboard SAS on C606 compatible with FreeNAS?

Looking to get a X9DR3-F over X9DRI-F because of the extra 8 SAS ports. Would like to use the PCI-e slots on the board for other purposes, hence looking to offload some drives onto the onboard SAS. Have read conflicting reports about this. Is there a way to flash the onboard chip to IT mode like people do for the 9211s?

Hmmm.... I looked into this in the past (I have a X9DR3-LN4F+ also with the C606 but I use a LSI 9210-8i 6 GB/S as my HBA) and cannot find a "straight" answer on it, either. The C606 is also SATA2 (3 GB/S) not SATA3 so I would keep that in mind.

The info on the C606 says it will do RAID 0, 1 or 10 but this might be through the driver rather than the BIOS. If it is driver based I would assume that it would look like IT mode to FreeBSD.

Hopefully someone has more info because I can see some uses for thost ports as well :)
