Hello Support

thanks in advance for some support and help.

I am quite new to freenas and trying to build up my own nas.
here the components:
Supermicro X9SBAA
8GB ECC RAM
4x WD750GB
8GB Stick Corsair

ASUS USB-DVD drive for installation(also tried usb image)

The problem is, that is not possible to install on the usb stick, also not the harddrive.
The mainboard has only 2 usb3.0 ports and I tried already different USB sticks with 4 and 8GB (also usb2.0/3.0).
I have checked in the mainbaord settings that the xhci hands-off is deactivated.

Here is the error message:

Timecounter"TSC" frequency 1995036210 Hz qualtity 1000
GEOM_Part: integrity check failed (ada2, MBR)
GEOM_Part: integrity check failed (ada3, MBR)
Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/mdo ()...
(Date, Time) init: initial setsid ( ) failed: Operation not permitted
(Date, Time) init login_getclass: unknown class 'daemon'
Looking for installation cdrom on

Thanks and regards
Stephan

Is that error after a USB or CD install? Which utility are you using to burn the image to the stick?

Hello dlavigne

this happens while trying to install from cd, but also when trying to install this from another stick with an image.
I doublechecked on 2 other systems, there I could easily install on different usb sticks.
I also tried to install on another system and trying to take this stick to the new system, but this also fails...
Thanks in advance
Stephan

hey
this was the information I used for to create the image. I might be the problem that the board has only 2 USB3.0 ports and no other (USB2.0) ports.
When I start from the stick which was done on another system, it boots but it hangs for about 30seconds on a component called winbound.
There is an IPMI Port on the system, might this be the problem?
It owuld be great to get it to work.

Thanks in advance for your efforts to help.
Best
Stephan

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone with your motherboard, so I'm not sure I can help. You could try disabling xhci via a tunable by booting your USB stick from another computer and adding the tunable. This might not help, but its the only guess I have without actually having your hardware in front of me.

Thanks cyberjock for your feedback.
I will also try to disable ipmi, maybe this helps.
Does anyone have already experience with the Supermicro A1SAi-2750F.
This is also a quite new board with Intel Atom and up 32GB ECC RAM.

Thanks in advance and regards

IPMI shouldn't be affecting the bootup or control of the server. That's one of the principles of how IPMI works. It's invisible to the OS and invisible to the local user.

OK, thanks Cyberjock
I think, I need to buy another Mainboard :-(
Does anyone have already experience with the Supermicro A1SAi-2750F.
I really like the Supermicro MB so I really would like to go for such a MB, it has support for up 32GB ECC RAM, so will be good base for further release and a bigger nas.
Waiting for some reply,
thanks and regards

Well, you aren't going to get any useful responses as virtually every motherboard they have that has been made in the last 2 years hits your requirements of being Supermicro brand and at least 32GB of ECC RAM. What you should do is find the motherboard that has the features you want. I use the X9SCM-F and it ROCKS. Excellent board for home use!
