Hi All,
Looking at replacing my Dell 720XD, as I will be losing my rack in a few months and won't have a viable location for it to live and stay cool.

My goal was to reuse as many parts from the Dell 720XD as possible, which is how I have come up with the following build using the CPU and RAM.

Build Components
CPUSingle E5-2650 V2 (Purchased)
CPU CoolerCooler Master MasterLiquid ML120L Core AIO (Replacing RGB fan with Noctua)
MotherboardSuper Micro X9DR3/i-F

RAM4 x 16GB (64GB) PC3-14900R 2Rx4 (Purchased)
Storage10 x DELL 6TB 7.2K 12G 3.5INCH SAS HDD (Raid Z3) (Purchased From another build, Drives in the current Dell 720XD are staying together)
2 x 250GB Samsung 870 Evo (Mirror OS Drives) (Purchased)
NICDell Chelsio T520-CR 10GB 2-Port Ethernet Adapter
(Purchased, I am aware my pool is unable to get the full speeds; I am looking at getting SSD pool later on to utilise the bandwidth more)

Host Bus Adapter (HBA)LSI 9300-16i

ChassisENTHOO PRO 2 SERVER EDITION

Case Fans5x Noctua NF-A14 PWM (140mm)
Config: 3 x intake (AIO will be on the intake fans)
2 x exhaust (Top of the case)
PSUCorsair HX1000 Platinum 1000 W 80+ Platinum

Power Consumption
Under-load wattage, with about 1W of headroom per device
CPU95W
CPU Cooler2.5W
Motherboard35W
RAM4 x 6W (24W)
Storage (SAS Pool / OS Boot Pool)10 x 20W (200W) / 2 x 3.5W (7W)
NIC12W
Host Bus Adapter (HBA)30W
Case Fans
Based on fans running at 100%
5 x 55W (275W)
Rough max wattage with 25% headroom851W
Worst case idle wattage
(851w x 0.20)
170W

For the motherboard, I have found a second-hand Supermicro Server CSE-825 near where I live, so I was going to rip the EATX X9DR3/i-F out of that.
I did look at a Dell T620, but it limits future expandability, which I would prefer to keep at all costs. I also lost the ability to have dual OS SSD Drives.

Interesting case - it even has a fan wall, perhaps even two of them.
Make sure that 9300 gets plenty of airflow - they get toasty - which will eventually eat data.

Power use might be quite high - and remember that with 1 CPU you don't get all the slots - but I am sure you know that

Good solid kit list. The only caveat being high power use

Wow! Up to 14 fans, crazy.
