Hey All

I am looking at getting a Dell Chelsio T520-CR 10GB 2-Port Ethernet Adapter (Link Below) to pair with my Dell 720XD (Specs below) (Will be using US-XG-6POE switch with Unifi DAC Cables for networking)and was wondering if anyone is running a similar setup and if you had any issues getting TrueNAS to see the adapter?

I tried to go down the route of an intel X520-DA 2 but had a horrible time getting TrueNAS to recognise the adapter (In the end, I returned the card and looked at the Chelso hence the question).
Do you guys have to do any config within the TrueNAS Shell/Terminal, or did you simply plug in the card, and TrueNAS picked it up in Network Interfaces?

I've used these cards for many years on many systems across FreeNAS and TrueNAS CORE and they work great just plug and play.

It should be plug and play.
The price is not great, though. Unless you're in a hurry, want to buy from a local shop, or don't want to deal with customs, I suggest you have a look on eBay for refurbished T520 cards.

The only concern to me is the DAC cables. I have had Chelsio cards be quite particular about the optics/SFP's. My strong recommendation would to use short range optical SFP+ modules. Then each side could have its own compatible optic. IMHO, the optical cables are also much easier to route/manage then DAC cables.

Our ever helpful Resident Grinch has posted a link to a very useful ressource from Panduit about compatibility of DAC and optical modules. I'm not aware of any issue from Chelsio with DACs, and do use generic DACs with my cards.
