So a few weeks ago, I set up a FreeNas 11 box, mainly for use with my windows computers utilizing SMB. I set up my SMB shares after a long troubleshooting process with user permissions, and everything was working fine.
That is, until I tried to access said share on my Linux Mint cinnamon box. I created a UNIX (NFS) share in hopes that it would work with Linux, but when I went into the network tab of my file explorer, I only found my SMB shares. My reasoning was that I could just use my SMB shares on and delete the unix share I just made. Everything worked just fine on linux, I could access my files, but when I went back onto my windows machine, there was no NAS. In other words, when I went to the network tab of file explorer, there was no entry for my NAS.
From there I tried all kinds of things. I tried changing the version of Samba used by the plugin to a newer version, double checking network settings, everything I could think of. I rebooted the client and server several times and recreated my shares. I've been troubleshooting this for hours and I'm at the end of my rope. I could just reinstall freenas, but that is a painful process and I'm not exactly sure I want to solve the issue without knowing what caused it. If my shares break every time I access on Linux, that's not ideal.
Any settings you think I could tweak? Also let me know if you need clarification on anything else I did, I changed so much that I don't remember all of what I did.
