I have "ditched" my current NAS as FreeBSD NAS and commenced building a new one. I have read the HW guide and some parts are difficult the get, but I have just ordered the following (not yet shipped). I know the MB is OK, but what about the CPU and Memory?

MB

CPU

Memory (updated)

I believe you have the wrong RAM type. It looks like you have RDIMM, not UDIMM. Maybe you could use the Memory QVL next time or read the user manual next time. Here is what I feel is the proper RAM for your system (this is just one location to buy it)

Someone else can chime in here and verify my answer.

At least there is a local supplier for this RAM, but out of stock. I will replaced my RAM order. Thx for replying..

I use the 2400 Mhz ECC UDIMM sticks in my Supermicro X11SSM-F mainboard, albeit at 2133 MHz. Price was the same, so I chose that.

Then again, I did not realize that you were building a DDR3 system! ECC UDIMM is definitely the preferred ram for the Xeon E3.
