FreeNAS as PVR/TV streaming server?

First off, is this possible? If so, what's the best approach? Total FreeNAS newbie so feel free to call me an idiot for suggesting it! I saw some older threads from 2013 discussing whether it was possible, but I couldn't find a summary/conclusion whether the users got it working!

Possibly?

Create jail.
Get USB TV tuner to show up in jail.
Configure software in jail to run said TV tuner.

I do think I've read where a few people did get a TV Tuner and DVR software running in FreeNAS but it wasn't that many folks for certain.

This is actually on my list to look into in the fall (although I don't really want to put any more jails/hardware in my NAS - I'm looking at implementing the networked HDHomeRun tuner into my Emby jail).

Should be possible, I think. I just won't have time to validate until the current project is finished at work and the subsequent swim team season ends.

Feel free to be the guinea pig, though!

I remember a thread regarding using a HDHomeRun with FreeNAS. I have one too, but I am not using it with a PVR (yet). So many projects, so little time.
