Hi,
When connecting my "Fantec qb-35us3-6g (external hard drive case with 4 disks)" with my "HP Proliant Microserver Gen8" with USB3, my "TrueNAS-12.0-U3" (natively installed) only recognizes 1 drive (under Storage/Disks).
Is this a USB problem? Should I connect via eSata? (I would have to buy a PCI card...)
Any idea?
thx!

That type of external disk chassis is not a good fit for ZFS due to the internal controller.

If anything, you should opt for e-SATA, but this will also not allow for you to see all of the disks.

I have some (very ancient) experience with this type of device and the outcome is that even when you can get them to work (and all disks are addressable by TrueNAS), the controller won't handle the load that a ZFS pool will throw at it and it will fail within months.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news that your intended solution won't really work.
