I just googled plexconnect, and isn't that the client app(the app that gets installed on the AppleTV) and not a server app(the app that goes in the jail)?

It is a python script that you run it and acts as a server which sits between apple tv and plex media server and hijack the apple trailers app on apple tv so whenever you openup apple trailers on apple tv plex webui will open and you can access all your plex media from the apple tv. The good thing about it is that it works on non jailbroken apple tv.

Actually I was able to run it in the plex jail manually however I have no idea how to make it into a daemon that can be easily started and stopped.

And you think that someone with control over that will notice a forum post. The forum software is complete garbage due to the low GAF factor. So no, don't expect that ot be fixed.

I think a print server plugin would be absolutely necessary for a NAS distribution.

Best based on CUPS. Airprint support out of the box would be perfect :)

Tried to run CUPS in a FreeNAS jail by myself, but had some issues with the device permissions I could not solve.

Wouldn't the jail prevent access to the printer? Setting up CUPS-PDF is fairly straight forward.

Yes, by default the permissions are to restrictive. Maybe the FreeNAS team changes the default permissions for printer devices so the access would be possible.

I am looking to install MediaBrowser3 Server. Its currently only a windows release so I know wine is needed. I tried installing pb utils last night in a jail but that was pretty fruitless.

All it needs is a webserver √, python √ and curl so it should not be hard to do. I might try to do it myself when I find the time, but maybe someone will beat me to it ;)
