i used the settings in this thread: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/cyber-power-systems-cp850pfclcd-working.18673/

It says to use cpcf1000pfclcd usbhid driver for CP850PFCLCD
but my serial number is 000000000000

and I keep getting "Data for UPS [ups] is stale" messages.

i tried testing by unplugging the ups and it did shutdown as expected. And started back up when I plugged it back in.

Just want to know if it is anything I need to be concerned about.

edit: i am going to try: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/data-for-ups-is-stale.20898/page-3#post-197460
setting usb to auto and i have not enabled usb3.0 etc. and report back

Is serial number not showing up and the commands having no description mean the UPS driver has issues.

Log entries that concern me:
Code:
Jul 10 16:02:29 freenas notifier: fopen /var/db/nut/upsd.pid: No such file or directory

Jul 10 16:02:29 freenas notifier: /usr/local/etc/nut/cmdvartab not found - disabling descriptions

Edit:
I haven't added any extra users to upsd.users (Extra Users). I don't think it's safe to add root user there. I created a user but then I didn't know if I should also add it to wheel and uucp groups and add it to sudoers and if I needed to create a home directory data set for the user. I know in Linux your can edit sudo config to allow access to ability to shutdown restart etc.

You don't need to create any users. Why would you do that?

The root you see listed there was for remote monitoring at the time I believe... I was just looking for that post and found this.. The UPS (850va) does work well (mint - no issues).. I noticed you had the 1000va that’s why your having issues as it's a known bug.. probs a different USB controller on those UPS or something.. SweetandLow pointed you to the fix for that one :)

I have the CP1000PFCLCD, would using the serial port resolve the communication issue?
