Can't add mirrored metadata vdev

I have a pretty basic setup with 3 data vdevs, each are 4 drives in raidz1. On TrueNAS Scale 23.10.0.1
I'm trying to add a metadata vdev with 2 SSDs in a mirror but it looks like the interface won't allow anything other than raidz1. From what I can tell online it seems like TrueNAS Core allows you to do this but you need to go through a warning and an override button. Is there a reason for this or a way to override this behavior?

Any help is appreciated

Hey @niah

This was a UI bug that should actually be fixed in the latest SCALE 23.10.1 - which just released today.

Note that because your data vdevs are RAIDZ, if you choose to add a special vdev to this pool, it will be a permanent fixture - there won't be a way to remove it afterwards.

Just a heads up: depending on the size (>2TB) and type (I'm guessing you are using HDDs) of the drives, 3 VDEVs of 4 drives in RAIDZ1 are quite risky. Plan accordingly.

How convenient, I've just updated and it's now working. Thanks!

Also thanks Davvo, This is a homelab environment and I'm more or less experimenting with things currently. Each vdev is performing much better than I thought so I'll probably move to 2 VDEVs in RAIDZ2 at some point in the future. Also my backups are pretty solid so I'm not that worried.
