I had errors like that on another drive and I managed to fix them following this guide:
But it's not working on da1

smartctl of da1:

The drive is a 2GB Seagate FireCuda SSD.
That's not what the SMART output says, it says it s WD Red. And the output you posted is a drive that is toast and needs to be replaced.

That's weird, because the log says da1 and I did smartctl -a /dev/da1?

Oh, I must have been thinking it was the SSD still that I did manage to fix, my bad.

So why is it toast, it really can't be repaired? Is it likely to fail completely soon or what?

Thanks

So why is it toast
It's showing read errors, uncorrectable sectors, a history of failing to even run a SMART self-test, and it's failed every SMART self-test it's been able to run for the last two weeks. I wouldn't trust it in my pool.

Other than that you aren't showing the full output, nothing. It's still failed every SMART test for the last two weeks, and it's failed to even run a few more. RMA it.

Unfortunately it is out of RMA period :( anywhere to get cheap WD Red 6TBs? If I bought a new 8TB drive and replaced it with that would it work or do they all need to be the same size? (I'm assuming they do). If the drive fails before I can replace it, my pool should still be fine until I do replace it, right? I'm only using raidz1

No, you can put a larger disk into the pool. You won't get any benefit from the additional space until you replace all the disks with larger ones, but it won't hurt anything.

Oh that's great, because 8TBs are the same price as the 6TBs I bought 5+ years ago now, so at least I can slowly replace each one with a new 8TB one. Thanks
