I have a Intel 520 SFP+ card connect point-to-point with my thunderbolt to SFP+ QNAP adapter on my PC. It's worked OK but SMB would disconnect sometimes on Windows. It was stable for a long time, but then it became unstable and now entirely unresponsive after a recent move. I replaced the cable but no improvement. I thought I'd double check here before replacing the NIC or the QNAP adapter if anyone had any ideas. Sadly I don't have other 10gbps gear I can test it with to better isolate the issue. The lights are on and green on both ends. Anyways thanks for any pointers.

Standard MTU is 1500 or less, like 1492. Maybe in the move something changed and 9000 is larger than something can handle.

Alternately, fast Ethernet cards generate heat, and if that heat isn't being constantly removed the life of the card degrades dramatically. If you're running that card in a case without good airflow over the card...consider a rear exhaust fan. (and a replacement card)
