SOLVED CIFS Share

I know this question is going around a lot and I almost feel bad asking it because in most of the posts I've read it seems I'm just not smart enough to use FreeNAS. I wanted a storage solution for my wife and I that also had data back up so I did a search and found the following website, which lists all the hardware I currently have.

I have everything installed and can access the box through the gui. I tried setting up a share and that worked right away on my Mac, but my wife's Windows couldn't see it.
I've tried several tips like creating datasets and adding users and groups. At one point I had the box showing up in Explorer, but I'm having the common problem of authentication.

I don't need anything fancy, I just want my wife and I to be able to store music and other files.

I have OSX Maverick. My wife has Windows 7. I'm only concerned right now about getting the Windows working. Any tips on setting it up?
My wife told me to either fix it or sell it.

Thank you so much for your comments. I did read M0nkey_'s thread and I made the most progress with that one. I will take a look at your other info in the next few days. From your comment it seems I may have used some incorrect components. That's what I get, if that's the case, for blindly following a "build guide".
I was also considering switching to OpenMediaVault instead.

I appreciate your help and advice on ECC. I have read everything you linked and it all makes sense, but when I try to connect with Windows I still can't.
When I set my box up with no groups or users I can log in with my Mac no problem, but on Windows I get a File cannot be accessed error.
When I try to set up users and groups per your post I get a generic network can't be found error or the login screen just keeps coming back up.
If you have any other advice I would appreciate it. Otherwise tomorrow perhaps I would have better luck with OpenMediaVault.

One more update: I've decided that the problem is Windows 7. I've been following error codes and see a number of people online having trouble connecting to networks in Win 7, not just NAS boxes. I'm attempting to resolve the issue by upgrading to Windows 10. We'll see if that helps.

Wow. How stupid am I? Don't answer that. If anyone can't connect, check your firewall first. I didn't realize just because it's a local network it was still being blocked.
