zfs primarcache and secondarycache

In an effort to optimize the benefit of my limited 50GB of RAM for VMs running over iSCSI, I have run zfs set primarcache=metadata pico and zfs set primarcache=metadata pico/vmblock. My question is now, will the L2ARC still be used by the other data sets? I would guess no as L2ARC is feed from ARC and if ARC is disabled, L2ARC has nothing being feed into it.

I'm not 100% sure so if any experts can confirm or deny my suspicions that would be great.
