x11ssl-f fan speed keeps crashing

hi everyone

i got supermicro x11ssl-f and decide look at ipmi and see fan speed at and notice it keeps slowing down and speeding up on all fans

but still no change and tried different fan modes.
why trying fix problem notice hdd temp hot on cold days

hi

thanks for quick reply and no luck fan speed still keeps changing from 0 to max rpm

i used code below
e.g. ipmiutil sensor -N 192.168.1.101 -U ADMIN -P ADMIN -n 41 -u 100:100:100:3200:25400:25500

respond at end: ipmiutil sensor, completed successfully

tried 041 any way and it try to change 04 and failed

and i all ready got fan set to full speed, trying work out why not stable (so much easier on desktop motherboard ;))

You should really check out this script (although it's not really clear to me if you are having issues with the IPMItool itself or just with getting the right fan speeds).

All the documentation and links to the forum thread discussing it are there.

It's a must-have for any FreeNAS system that cares about the disks as far as I'm concerned.

You may want to investigate the stall speed of the fan... set speed to 100 and see if it still spins... then 200 if not... then 300...etc.

Then you need to set your low/critical threshold above that number to avoid stalling.

hey, sorry been a bit busy at work.
any way i did heaps of testing 0-4000rpm in increments of 100rpm and rebooting bmc but fans keep not working but cpu is fine and found another cpu tested it and work fine, so just going buy hole new set of fans, hope all works out
