I settled on this board. Now looking for memory. The Supermicro has no 3rd party memory on the list. So i started with the usual brands: crucial, samsung, hynix.
Samsung does not have ECC it seems, hynix had no decent filters on the webpage (and need to download a pdf to read the specs).
I am aiming for 64GB. Actual availibilty is shops is always a problem. I rather order by trusted (dutch) shops.

I get lost with the "speed" and the "rankings".
This is the PDF.

The spec page itself is stating: "Up to 128GB ECC UDIMM, DDR4-2666MHz"
Question 1: Does this mean i need 2666 memory banks if i want to upgrade to 128 in the future? Or will it downclock 3200 to 2666 speeds?

Question 2 : AFAIK it is better to run 2x32 (dual channel) instead of 4x16. So why is this table hinting towards 4 banks?

Question 3: Now opting for KSM26ED8/32ME. Seems amply present and seems Crucial/Micron chips anyway.
Will this work?

Any idea what the differences are between a 3G2R and 3G2B1R memory module? Crucial lists both as compatible, why should I prefer one over the other?

1R vs 2R = single rank vs dual rank
The B is for buffered vs unbuffered, I'd guess.

Nah, scratch that. They are the same module.

For what it is worth. The Micron's delivery time was unknown. Switched to
Kingston Server Premier KSM26ED8/32HC - GeheugenDDR4 - 32 GB: 1 x 32 GB - 288-PIN - 2666 MHz / PC4.

Did a run with memtest86 and memtest86+. And they seem to work fine.

Out of curiosity: What did you pay per module in NL?

I paid 122.90€/32GB 7 hours ago. But this was over a price search engine; the direct link to the module has a price of 141€/module. The price search engine has also meanwhile upped their price to 126€ for the least expensive one.

Buying is like a lottery at the moment.
