Where are my files in my Snapshots?

Hey there,

So my wife recently deleted some files and I was like "no worries, I have snapshots!". I have previous versions configured so I can recover things via Windows. Only problem is that the previous versions are empty. My guess is I screwed something up.

Here are my Previous Versions:

Share folder is empty...

It should have data in it right?

So what am I missing?

What is Vlo1? is it a dataset? or top of pool?

It is my pool.

Since it's your pool you will have to clone the snapshot with the data and make a new share for it to get the file you need. For the shadowcopy in Windows to work the snapshot has to be the dataset that is being shared, not the whole pool.

Figured it out. I didn't check the 'reclusive' checkbox so my snap was only of that folder, nothing in the other datasets. Doh!
