Hey,
I am setting up a small-scale support lab which will include a dozen or so VM’s for product support related purposes. Those VM’s are connected to FreeNAS via an iSCSI interface. In addition to the iSCSI target, FreeNAS includes a simple Windows CIFS share for documentation and patches.
I would like to use FreeNAS Snapshots to ensure data isn’t accidently removed or altered. In order to safeguard the VM’s which are connected via the iSCSI, do I need to include the VMware-Snapshot or will the standard FreeNAS Snapshot work? Currently FreeNAS is setup to include the iSCSI target files in its Snapshot.
In addition, is the Snapshot feature all or nothing, or can some data be restored but not all the data?
