Hi,

today I received a alert from my NAS because a one Disk has errors. But why is the disk online and I can't see more informations about this errors.
Volume (zpool) has status - healthy and all drives are online
15-12-_2017_11-22-52.png

Is the hard drive broken or not?

What happens if I try to set the drive offline and then online again?

Look at 197 and 198 and read @joeschmuck's guide on the meaning and relevance of non-zero values for them (you have 8 for both).

Basically as @Redcoat has pointed out, the values for ID 197 and 198 are telling you that you have a potiential failure occuring. The troubleshooting guide I created has my personal threshold values for considering replacement which is any value above 5. You could have 8 and be fine however if I had a value of 8, I'd be getting a replacement drive started. Since the SMART Extended test is only a read test it may not fail. When these specific sectors are written to again they may fail and then ID 5 will increment thus locking out the failing sector(s). I would not say that your hard drive has failed yet but it is definately on it's way. The rationale is that the platter surface starts to fail, think of it like a thin film on a sheet of glass and now that film is debonding from the glass and starts to flake off. It will get worse over time each time the heads fly over that area and the platers heat up and cool down. You have almost 4 years of life out of this Desktop drive, not bad at all. I'd plan to replace it in the very near future.

Also, setup routine SMART testing. I like a daily short test and weekly extended/long test. Looks like you were doing them and then for some reason stopped. It could have been a software update that caused the change, it's happened to a lot of us.
