I just bought 2 SSDs to use for a VirtualBox jail. However, when I install the jail and try to access the phpVirtualBox interface, I can't access the page. I used this for the installation: http://doc.freenas.org/9.3/freenas_jails.html

Am I missing something?

We've had a few users mention that but I don't know if anyone has made a bug report yet. Can you check to see if there is one at bugs.freenas.org and create one if there is not? Either way, post the bug number here.

I was able to get it working thanks to John Hixson at bugs.freenas.org. Turns out there ended up being an update that came through last night/this morning that fixed the issue once applied.

Hello,

Having the same/simmilar issue - i setup a clean WindowsXP install to try the VM system out but cannot remote access. As i couldn't remote access to carry out the installation, i installed it locally on my PC in virtualbox and moved the drive image over and imported this into phpVirtualBox.

This machine will boot and i can see the desktop in the preview box however if i click the remote desktop link i get the RFB 003.008 message in the browser. If i point remote desktop client to connect to the IP and port i get the error 0x1104. Ive also tried changing the port but i get the same error. If i try to connect with the VM not running it tells me the machine isnt running so im sure the connection is being attempted but is being refused somehow by the XP install or the phpVB app.

Other posts and online indicated to uncheck "visual styles" which ive done to no avail. Also there was mention of the Extension Pack not being installed, but as far as i can tell it is as supplied in the jail template.

As a final one, in phpVB i click on console, the browser tells me the plugin isnt supported - again online things point to the Extension Pack not being installed but i think it is.

So it looks like ive got my trial VM running but i cannot view its desktop or get keyboard/mouse input to it.

Any pointers would be usefull.

Just install vnc viewer on your local machine and be done with it.

Thanks for the tip Jailer. I was having problems getting the Java console to work in the browser, took your advice and installed RealVNC viewer, then connected to the virtualbox jail IP on port 9000 e.g. 192.168.0.28:9000 got right in.

Hi, how about accessing webGUI over the internet or outside my LAN using real VNC viewer.

Is this possible?

@ric, your question has nothing to do with this thread. That said, the only way that any VNC viewer is going to work to use the web GUI is if you use it to connect to another computer on your LAN that is running (1) a GUI (Windows, Mac OS, etc.), and (2) a VNC server. For this to work, you need to have access to your LAN from outside the LAN, ideally by way of a VPN connection. But if you have that, why muck about with VNC? Just use a web browser to go to the web GUI directly.
