.. no upgrade button appears...
-->> If the Upgrade button does not appear, the pool is already at the latest feature flags and does not need to be upgraded.
but still flashing
WARNUNG: 11. September 2017 01:06 - New feature flags are available for volume Volume1. Refer to the "Upgrading a ZFS Pool" section of the User Guide for instructions.
The Upgrade button is the rightmost one in the row of buttons on the bottom of the screen, the one with a green upwards arrow on it. Is it really not there? Just checked in my 11.0-U3 installation with overdue pool upgrades. The buttons on the bottom are overlooked frequently ... (and some images in your last message didn't make it through).
Your images aren't working. Don't post them to third-party image hosting sites; this forum is entirely capable of hosting the images by itself. Either paste them into the message window, or use the "Upload a file" button to upload them.
You should see two entries for your pool. If you click on the top one, do you see an upgrade button?
given your current system, I would ignore the message and not upgrade the pool. It's a one way operation. If you don't upgrade it, you could roll back to an earlier version of FreeNAS.
Thx forum !!, i was able to find the upgrade button.. all fine now.. version 11 working fine and upgrade even if one way .. done.
maybe a good idea to make a image of the usb stick and backup config after major changes now..:>)
So this Thread can be closed now.
No, there's no need to image the USB stick, and the odds are it wouldn't be effective anyway. But yes, as we recommend all the time, keep backups of your config file.
By the way.. if i am in learning mode..:>)) Upgrading a ZFS Pool --- what exactly is going on in that action?
Is there any Link what a ZFS Pool is and why its needed?
From the documentation:
"In ZFS terminology, the storage that is managed by ZFS is referred to as a pool. The FreeNAS® graphical interface uses the term volume to refer to a ZFS pool." http://doc.freenas.org/11/storage.html
