This site will have the older manuals available for your use.
From page 55 of the manual in question...
3.1.10 Backup the Configuration Once you have tested your configuration, be sure to back it up. Go to System → Settings and click the Save Config button. Your browser will provide an option to save a copy of the configuration database. You should backup your configuration whenever you make configuration changes and always before upgrading FreeNAS®.

9.2.1.5? Damn, you're better off reconfiguring SMB sharing from scratch.

If you want to do it the hard way: 9.2.1.9 > 9.3.1 > 9.10.2. Either way you chose, backup your config.

Note that as of 9.3, FreeNAS is 64-bit only. If you have a 32-bit only machine, the most recent you can upgrade to is 9.2.1.9.

how to go on now? how can i check the size of stick attached by remote? freenas is installed on a usb stick... for the nas system.
FreeNAS 9.2.1.5-RELEASE was released on April 25, 2014.- should be installed at the moment...
I did read about newer configurations / versions do need a 8 GB USB Stick...

http://doc.freenas.org/

-->> Is there any possibility to let my data stored untouched and only upgrade the freenas os?
what if i buy a new usb stick, install a most recent 64 bit freenas 11 version and try to install from scratch using
the same information of config of the old system, same share names and so on?
is there maybe a possibility to use the backed up configuration as basis then?

You have less than half the minimum required RAM for any 9.x version of FreeNAS. This isn't likely to go well with this hardware.

this is my Chase...
REV B.
DDR3 Supply

I do not know the Board used...

Speicher 3042MB
Thx for the HINT! ..hmm ok.
the Board seems to have 2 RAM Slots.
if both are filled in each should have 1,5 GB?

- What kind of Ram can be used, max per Slot, can it be checked by remote?

- Is there a possibility to use the stick and the hard disks and upgrade hardware with a new chase and board and processor and
would it work after hardware change? i think no, cause of new Systems Cpu Architecture is 64 Bit and Hardware Change..?

Sure. Pretty good chance, actually.

current Board:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131731

Current RAM:
https://www.amazon.de/Kingston-KVR1066D3S7-2G-Arbeitspeicher-DDR3-So-Dimm/dp/B001AZV2WY
Kingston KVR1066D3S7/2G PC3-8500 Arbeitspeicher 2 GB (1066 MHz NON-ECC) DDR3-So-Dimm

Freenas on USB Stick to Boot!

-->>>>

If i want to change to 64 BIT OS..
- how to perform, install freenas 64 Bit on another USB Stick
https://download.freenas.org/10/RELEASE/x64/

but how to keep all the configuration of the old OS Version?
how to keep my DATA on the both Raid Disks?

i have backed up the 32 Bit System's configuration after upgrading to FreeNAS-9.2.1.9....

maybe then upgrade ram with 2x4 GB, DDR3-So-Dimm 1066 MHz NON-ECC ? Link?

Thx for Info.

Download the config file from your current installation, install the 64-bit version, upload your saved config file.

ok, good to know there is an option.
just installed 64bit image on a new 8 GB Usb Stick.

so i will unplug old stick and stick in the 8 GB Usb Stick.. and try to Boot then or? but how to access it, it has no ip Adress then i imagine.. maybe
one via Dhcp via Fritzbox..
trying using \\freenas and password freenas, user admin? .. and upload old config then using web Interface?

Use the web interface to upload the config. You can get the ip by hooking up a monitor and looking at the ip on the console.

...or by checking out the DHCP status page on your router. Or by using a network scanning utility like Fing on your smartphone. Or... Lots of ways to skin this cat.

No, the user is root, and the password is whatever you set the password to be during installation.

ok new status:

- hopefully installed ver11 on a new second usb stick with 8 gb ram.
- connected a montiro to the chassis a keyboard and usb mouse, too.
- changed usb stick old with old freenas version with new stick.
- bootet from that new stick..
- get a screen telling me if i want to install or upgrade freenas..
- told yes..
- now a new sreen.. that less then 4gb memory.. could be slow.. ok i have 3,5... want to try ..
- get a new screen then..where to install freenas.. hd1, 2 or stick.. if i choose the stick i get explanation to install on at minimum on one hard disk!

questions:
i do not know if i told to install on hd 1 or 2 in earlier version? i thought all the install and needed files for os are on the usb stick...??
- how to go on, using which disk?
- highest priority that my data on hd 1 and mirrored to hd2 is ok and safe!
- how to access the webconfig page afterwards and howo to upgrade then.. or how to import the 9.x config file.. will it be recognized?

can not upgrade to more then 4 gb ram according to board which is installed so far.....

Did you actually choose the stick? I.e., did you press the spacebar to put an asterisk next to it?

You really need different hardware.
