I'm currently running 8.0-RELEASE on a USB flash drive. To upgrade to 8.2, can I simply save my existing config, build a new flash drive w/ 8.2, boot from it, then upload my old config? Thanks in advance.

Hi GregA,

Yes, you can.

Keep in mind the image size has changed, so use a 4GB USB key.

Personally I would make an intermediate hop & go to 8.0.4 or something since you are more than a year old & there have been a *ton* of changes....it might be that your config won't update cleanly coming from something so old. Of course if you are starting with a fresh USB key there's no reason not to just go with 8.2 & see what happens.

Thanks survive, highly appreciated. I was concerned about trying to upload a config while jumping two point releases.

Updated:
Your suspicions were correct. Uploading the 8.0 config to 8.2 did not work (the system hung right after the bootloader). But doing the two-step upgrade from 8.0 -> 8.0.4 -> 8.2 worked just fine. Thanks again.
